as played by Simon Corvan.
Background
Albert hails from a family of Messengers that is renowned for their skills in getting the job done. His parents and every single one of his younger five brothers and sisters are Messengers and the family is scattered across the Empire and beyond. The joke in his family is that no-one is quite sure how his parents Alfred and Eva managed to find time to have one child let alone five as his parents rarely saw each other! Albert was born in a ditch on a roadside one stormy night while his mother was delivering a contract for a merchant family just like three of his siblings (Paul, Heidi and Thomas) were. They all make fun of the two (Suzi and Viktor) who were born in a town claiming them to the softies of the family. The whole family has a reputation for being smart and canny. Albert feels a strong tie to his family despite rarely seeing them growing up and in his adult life, they are the one stable thing in his life.
At the age of fifty-six he has been on the roads as a Messenger for almost thirty years and has been pretty much everywhere there is to go. He started locally running parcels from the Halfling families in the Moot to the Halfling families in Stirland. Slowly he built on his family’s reputation and started running jobs further abroad. Albert’s biggest job was delivering diplomatic pouches to Brettonia.
Albert is concerned about his brother Thomas who was running messages for the Empire in the north when the invasion happened and hasn’t heard any news of him.
Personality
Albert is an open and cheery bloke who talks fast and makes friends everywhere he goes. He is on first name basis with at least one innkeeper in every major city and a fair few minor ones and makes a habit of remembering personal details so he can rekindle old friendships should he come across the person again.
Physically he is completely unremarkable not even possessing the famed Halfling Ballistics skills or Agility so he has to rely on his charm and wit to get by.
Albert loves cute girls of any race and is almost certain he has a bastard child out there somewhere but isn’t too worried about it. His own childhood was lacking in a strong father figure and he turned out just fine.
He loves the open road and rarely stops in any one place for long. He is a decent cook and can usually transform even basic ingredients into a delicious meal.
Being a Messenger he is usually safe from harm on the roads but has been chased by more than a few bandits, outlaws and beastmen over the years. Albert knows better than to stand and fight, he has always run from danger. He has never taken a life and is something of a coward although he would refer to himself as prudent.
