Alynna Sylvamere

Background

Alynna comes from a family of merchants that is known for its expertise in the transportation of goods. Well, known in Marienburg, at least; maybe not elsewhere… yet. Her parents and her older brother and older sister are all involved in the family business, and the company is in the process of spreading its tendrils across the Empire. The opinion held by the other family members is that her parents let Alynna live a sheltered life for far too long. They all believe Alynna isn’t ruthless enough to be an equal member of the family business, as she has demonstrated a tendency to put personal feelings ahead of financial considerations. The Sylvamere family has a reputation for being intelligent and calculating, with the exception of Alynna. She feels close to her family members on a personal level and is unaware that they marginalize her from responsibility and don’t take her seriously as a businessperson.

Alynna was born in Marienburg just like everyone else in the family. At the age of seventy-five, she has been on the roads as an envoy for many years and has visited almost everywhere at least once. Her family started her out as an envoy to keep her busy, since she seemingly had no aptitude as a merchant. She seemed to be adept at promotion, self and otherwise, and negotiation, and they started sending her farther and farther abroad, partially to marginalize her from any real responsibilities in the business. Alynna has done nothing of any importance as of yet. The family is concerned about developing trade ties in the Stirlands, but it currently has a lower priority, which is why Alynna was assigned to the task.

Personality

Alynna is a reserved woman who speaks eloquently but is something of a loner and doesn’t form close friendships. She makes a habit of remembering trivial details in case the information becomes important later. She seems to have been blessed by the gods with an excellent physical and mental fitness.

Alynna loves quality products and tries to use them for their value and as a symbol of her refined status. She would rather go lacking in the present to be able to purchase something of higher quality later on. She loves fine dining as well. She considers herself a gourmand and is becoming increasingly finicky about the ingredients that go into her meals.

She has been lucky in avoiding danger in her travels. She will stand and fight only when necessary and would prefer to run from danger. Some people are expendable that way, and she doesn’t see herself as expendable. She would prefer not to take lives but is willing to do so.
